The Republic of Poland, commonly known as Poland, is a country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, and the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad Oblast and Lithuania to the north. It is 312679km2 in area, making it the 9th largest country in Europe and the 71st largest in the world. It is also the 34th most populous country in the world, and the sixth highest in the European Union. It's also the most populous post-communist member of the EU. Poland is divided into 16 administrative subdivisions.
